Testimonials (U.S. LLM)

Paul Lilly – NYB Class ‘09/10
LLB (QUB),LLM Candidate (Boston College)
“I am due to complete the Friarylaw course after my time at Queen’s but I already know that deciding on Friarylaw has been the right choice for me. Already I have gained admission to some of the top Universities in the US; including Duke University in North Carolina, Boston College in Massachusetts and North-western University in Chicago. These are among the very best Universities in American, and indeed the world. I have no doubt that Friarylaw’s assistance and help were key to my acceptance. The reference and advice supplied by Oliver was certainly a deciding factor in gaining acceptance to these schools. Some of my own Queen’s classmates have already passed the New York Bar through the Friarylaw Program and are currently enjoying LLM study at Fordham in New York. I hope to now also pursue an LLM in the US and God willing pass the New York Bar with Friarylaw expert help and assistance. Dee and Sandra at Friarylaw are always on hand to help with notes or questions as well!”
Beatrice Larkin – NYB Class ‘09/10
BCL (Hons)(UCD), Attorney-at-Law (NY),
LLM Candidate(Georgetown)
“The decision to enrol in the Friarylaw New York Bar Program has accelerated my career progression and exposed me to a multitude of exciting opportunities that would not, otherwise, have been available to me. Having completed my BCL degree at UCD only 9 months ago, I have now sat the New York Bar and MPRE exams, with the possibility of being admitted as an attorney this coming June, and I am enrolled in the LL.M. Program at Georgetown University Law Centre, commencing this summer.  I recommend the program without reservation; the Friarylaw team’s expertise and personalized approach will enable you to turn your career dreams into reality.”
Conor McLaughlin – NYB Class ‘09/10
LLB (Portabello) LLM Candidate (UPENN)
“It was quite daunting approaching the New York Bar and holding down a full time job, but the clear, concise study programmes and the fact that there is somebody there to ask if you have concerns make all the difference. I really appreciated all the extra work done behind the scenes, i was fortunate enough to be accepted into Fordham University and the University of Pennsylvania on Oliver’s recommendation.”
Declan Crowe – NYB Class ‘09/10
BCL (UCD), Attorney-at-Law (NY),LLM Candidate (UPENN) “I found the team at Friarylaw to be first class. They prepare each candidate effectively for the bar exam, and have always have time to assist any student who is falling behind or finding the workload difficult to sustain. They are very detailed and offer excellent guidance during what is quite a stressful period leading up to the exam. Their facilities are brilliant and their location is very convenient. For those wishing to apply for an LLM in America, Oliver’s contacts and knowledge along with Dee’s enthuasism and experience  make this process much easier than would otherwise be the case. I cannot recommend Friarylaw highly enough.”
Bill Laffan – NYB Class ‘09/10
BBLS (UCD), Attorney-at-Law (NY), LLM Candidate (Georgetown)
“Upon my graduation from UCD, the newly emerging realities of the Irish legal profession were becoming apparent. The deterioration of employment prospects forced me to reconsider my original plans of undertaking the FE1s. Following an examination of all my options, I decided upon sitting the NY Bar and undertook a preparation course in Friary Law.  In order to improve my candidature for employment with the top NY firms, I decided to also apply for LL.M’s in the top American Law Schools. Oliver Connolly and all the staff at Friarylaw were of great assistance to me in this, providing me with advice, guidance and an academic reference.  I am extremely grateful for all their assistance and I have no doubt that I would not be commencing an LL.M in Georgetown University this summer were it now for their help.”
Ciara Brunton – NYB Class ‘09/10
LLB (QUB), Attorney-at-Law (NY),LLM Candidate (Fordham)
“Thank you Oliver and all the Friarylaw staff including Dee and Sandra for all your help during the last few months; the hard work has finally paid having found out last week that I passed the NY bar exam on the first sitting! It is undoubtedly the most challenging process and exam I have ever experienced but it is also by far the most rewarding. Without strictly adhering to the schedule set forth by Friary the outcome may well have been very different and I have no doubts that following the set timetables were crucial to my success. I have also been made an offer from New York’s Fordham Law School in Manhattan on the International Business and Trade Law LL.M. programme which I have accepted. I feel like I now have an endless amount of options on both sides of the Atlantic given that the New York law firms now have a massive presence in London and Europe and now that the New York Stock Exchange has set up in Ireland. It has always been said that in a time of recession and economic downturn that you should try to set yourself apart from the rest of your cohorts by adding something unique to your CV; I am happy to say that I made the right choice setting myself apart from the crowd by adding this very prestigious and internationally recognised qualification to my CV. Thanks again for all your assistance throughout the year.”
